Comprehensive Material Studies is an academic field dedicated to analyzing and researching materials held by universities and museums in various forms. This course classifies a diverse range of 'object' materials based on era, region, and field, and conducts an integrated analysis from perspectives beyond traditional academic disciplines. It aims to teach the research methods of Comprehensive Material Studies through the National Museum of History and Folklore's extensive exhibits and vast collection. Developing the ability to extract information from various 'object' materials, which cannot be obtained individually, for broader research use, is essential in enriching research capabilities in the broader field of history studies. |

Learning objectives |
In the process of classifying and re-integrating various 'object' materials, acquiring knowledge and skills in humanities informatics is essential. Initially, practical knowledge and techniques in this area will be learned. Subsequently, by linking actual exhibits and archived items with digitized material information, students will develop the ability to independently construct historical perspectives from concrete 'object' materials, including skills in expression through exhibitions. Furthermore, students will gain the knowledge and methods necessary for organizing discussions around these topics and achieving mutual understanding between different historical views and perspectives. |
